Biography
Shannen Maria Doherty was born on the 12th of April, 1971 in Memphis, Tenn. (USA), until she reached the age of seven. Her family later moved to Los Angeles, and she got her first big break when the late Michael Landon discovered her from an episode of "Father Murphy." At the age of eleven, he cast her as Jenny Wilder on the TV drama series "Little House on the Prairie" and then she went on to star in the series, "Our House" and "Beverly Hills 90210", which made her become well-known. On "Beverly Hills 90210", she played twin sister Brenda Walsh, playing alongside Jason Priestly, who starred as her twin brother Brandon. Her regular appearances lasted of a duration of 5 years, being from 1990-1994. Shannen's other big-screen performances include the teen comedy "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" with Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker, Ron Howard's "Night Shift," "Heathers" and "Mall Rats". Doherty collected rave reviews for her performance as the famous Gone With the Wind author in the television movie "A Burning Passion: The Margaret Mitchell Story," and starred alongside Antonio Sabato, Jr. in the Showtime original film "Jailbreakers,". She also starred in the miniseries "Gone in the Night" and "Robert Kennedy and His Times," as well as the television movies "Sleeping with the Devil," "The Ticket" and "Friends 'Til the End." She was recently seen playing Prue Halliwell, on the series, Charmed, but left at the end of Season 3, and is now concentrating on new projects.
